Below is a graph of the velocity of an object over a period of
time. Describe the motion of the object during the time interval
shown.
Since the object started out traveling at
10 m/s in the negative direction, and later it was traveling at a
speed less than 10 m/s (also in the negative direction, it was
slowing down. The positive slope means that the acceleration is
positive, but since the velocity is negative a positive acceleration
will slow the object down.
