• Spontaneous Brillouin and Raman light scattering • UV-Vis-IR pulse laser (wavelengths: 210-2400 nm)
• Synchrotron X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (Advanced Light Source, UC Berkeley)
• Cleaning of radioactive contaminants by pulse laser
• IR & UV transmission/absorption spectroscopy
• Dielectric spectroscopy and electric hysteresis loop experiment • Measurement of anisotropic refractive indices • Polarizing light microscopy (for ferroelectric domain observation)
• In-situ X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope (SEM)
• RF&DC magnetron sputtering deposition
• LabVIEW and LABTECH automatic interfacing with GPIB and AD/DA converter
• High pressure diamond anvil cell (DAC) • Materials studied: Cs/Co contaminated granite, cement, and marble High-strain ferroelectrics: BaTiO3, Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN), (Na1/2Bi1/2)TiO3 (NBT),Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)1-xTixO3 (PMNT), Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)1-xTixO3 (PZNT), Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)1-xTixO3 (PFNT), Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)1-xTixO3 (PINT), and tungsten doped PMNT. Nonlinear optical crystals: KTiOPO4 (KTP), RbTiOAsO4 (RTA), CsTiOAsO4 (CTA), KTiOAsO4 (KTA). KDP-type mixed crystals: K1-x(ND4)xD2AsO4, Rb1-x(ND4)xD2AsO4, Rb1-x(ND4)xD2PO4. Nematic liquid crystal: E7.
