Install Cadence (OrCAD) - OrCAD is supported by the PEDL and
is our CAE tool of choice for electronic design and PCB layout.
We can assist users within Physics with installation and
usability issues. This document provides step-by-step
installation instructions for use of this software on the MSU
Bozeman campus. NEW (8/04) - SPB 15.2 is now available.Install Cadence (OrCAD)
Intro to Capture and PSpice -
This PDF contains the slides used in the PEDL short course,
"Capture and PSpice - An Introduction to Electronic CAE at
MSU."
Board Layout - using OrCAD
layout with PEDL resources
Layout Component Footprints -
large .PDF (25MB) that contains drawings of the components
available in the footprint library for OrCAD 10.2
PCB
"Mill-ability" - the choices a designer makes can have a
significant impact on whether a PCB prototype is even possible
to mill. This document describes some of the issues.
Eagle Survival Guide - The
Eagle layout tool is not supported by the PEDL, but this
document can help you create output that can be imported to
our rapid-prototyping machine for the creation of a board.
Map Your "Z:" Drive - Students
at MSU have available storage space on the main MSU servers.
. . useful for saving homework and projects.
Download the
MSU OrCAD Layout template from here. (Right click on
this link and save it to your local machine.) This file will
help you build a PCB layout that will work well with our
Rapid Prototyping System.
Mini-course notes on soldering and board
layout are available on the
Resources
page.
