Title:
“ Patent Law as a Career for Scientists and Engineers”
Abstract:
Patents are intimately connected with the research and development that
drives our global economy. One indication of the importance of patents
in today's economy is the growing number of patent applications that are
filed worldwide. Patent filings in the United States alone have
increased eighty-eight percent in the past ten years. All indications
suggest that patent filings will continue to increase in the coming
years. The explosive growth of patents has created a need for patent
professionals that can help inventors obtain, maintain, and enforce
their patents. Jason Creasman, a registered patent attorney and MSU
physics alumnus, will describe the career opportunities that are
available to students earning undergraduate or graduate degrees in
science or engineering.
About the Presenter: Jason Creasman graduated from Montana State
University in 1997 with a degree in Physics. In 2001, Jason received his
Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. Jason
stayed in Portland after law school and is now a partner at the
intellectual property law firm Alleman Hall McCoy Russell and Tuttle LLP.
