Title:
"How Hubble Changed the Universe: A Retrospective on Fifteen Years of Discovery"

Abstract:
Early in the last century, astronomer Edwin Hubble changed the universe--or our view of it, at least--by recognizing it to be a huge and expanding cosmos of galaxies. For the past fifteen years (and a little more), Hubble's namesake has been orbiting above the murk of the Earth's atmosphere, changing our view again in fundamental ways. This talk will focus on the Hubble Space Telescope's "top ten" achievements in helping to clarify our comic understanding, as compiled by scientists at the Space Telescope Science Institute for last year's 15th anniversary observance. It will conclude with an exhortation to help spread the word of our new-found view of the universe through scientist/educator collaborations of the sort encouraged by several NASA education and public outreach grant programs.
