Research Experience for Teachers

RET Program Summer 2008

Montana Hall, MSUMontana State University Department of Physics seeks one or two highly-motivated K-12 or
community college teachers to participate in our National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Program.
Projects will focus on physics and materials science. Examples include:

  • studies of superconductors and colossal magnetoresistive materials
  • magnetic films and nanostructures
  • measurements using electron paramagnetic resonance
  • film growth dynamics
  • designing piezoelectric actuators for motion control for space applications
  • forensic, biofilm, and corrosion research using imaging and chemical analysis techniques
  • applied optics, optical storage and quantum computing

Our goal is that the chosen project can be carried over into the classroom, so that students can profit from the experience.
