5B10.40  NAKAMURA ELECTROSTATIC FIELD APPARATUS


  • This apparatus can be used on an OHP or document camera.
  • Place one of 5 electrode patterns in the observation tank, charge it with the ion gun and observe the field lines on the screen.
  • The apparatus can be damaged by heat if left on the OHP too long.
  • Patterns include:   
    • 2 points - opposite polarity
    • 2 points - same polarity
    • 2 parallel plates - opposite polarity
    • 2 concentric rings - opposite polarity
    • Point charge in ring - opposite polarity


        (Discuss inserting electrodes, charging technique and charge retention on plastic case.)
