2B30.15  CRUSH THE SODA CAN



  • Put 1/4 cup of water in the soda can and bring to a boil.
  • When steam is streaming out the opening, immediately invert the can and plunge it in the bucket of water.
  • Turn the Bunsen burner off.
  • Keep the tip of the piezo lighter out of the flame.

  • The can collapses under atmospheric pressure and falls out of the tongs.
  • Allow can to cool before handling. Tongs may also get hot.
  • A fire extinguisher is available in the cart.
